Caravan or Cabin For Your Next Rental

Residential rental accommodation now includes caravans and cabins not just your usual standalone house or apartment.

A tight rental market has seen some property owners make instant use of their section. The placement of a rent a cabin or caravan for renting out to tenants provides instant income and it is fast becoming commonplace especially in South Auckland.

While its far from the ideal its affordable accommodation for those struggling to qualify for standard rental properties.

So if you’re in the market which would you prefer to rent or rent out – the cabin or the caravan?

Caravans are not often insulated as they are used mostly in the summertime. Unless of course it’s a new and more luxurious model. The ‘rent-a-cabin’ is a relatively new offering in New Zealand and they are purpose built for all year round living so they would more than likely be insulated.

The caravan is certainly the more ‘romantic’ option and it shouts ‘on holiday’ or this is a temporary solution so it may actually attract more prospective tenants.

However the cabin is purpose built so it will more than likely offer space saving options and look newer, trendier and more inviting as a accommodation option for longer stays.

For the property owner I guess the option you’d choose would come down to your personal preference. If you already own a caravan there’s no cost to purchase plus you get to use it for your own use for holidays and it looks less permanent.
